Welcome to the unknown USA! Make no mistake, the USA is not just about cities with giant skyscrapers. It is much more than that and, in fact, it is a country with incredible natural beauty.
The focus of this trip is on the biological and geological richness that the Southwest of the United States has to offer.
Going through 4 states (California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona) on an incomparable road trip, we will pass through sensational deserts, astounding canyons, rugged mountains, beautiful waterfalls and landscapes worthy of any wish list, ending the trip on California’s sunny beaches.
- Be dazzled with the giant Sequoias, that reach more than 4000 years old;
- Discover the marine life associated with the Californian coast and its wonderful landscapes as you go down the mythical Pacific Coast Highway;
- Admire the breathtaking geological formations of Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and Bryce Canyon;
- Explore one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon;
- Discover the history of the Indian Native American getting acquainted with an Indian Apachi;
Day 1 – Arrival to San Franciscosee
Your adventure begins when you land in the city of San Francisco, California! Once settled, you can rest and recover your energy or take advantage to discover a bit of this city. We will have a meeting in the evening where we will get acquainted and discuss our itinerary.
Day 2 – San Franciscosee
The scenery of San Francisco is part of the imagination of many travel enthusiasts. We will visit the "Fishermen's Warf", the famous Pier 39, Union Square and Lombard Street. If you want, you can take the traditional trams or venture on the Golden Gate Bridge.
Day 3 – Big Sursee
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will start our road trip heading south along the California coast though the famous Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). We will stop to enjoy the waves of Santa Cruz, the Bixby Bridge and the Pfeiffer Burns State Park where the fantastic McWay falls are located. A fantastic landscape, always by the sea and surrounded by green nature.
Day 4 – San Simeon – Elephant Seal Rookerysee
This morning we will observe the fantastic elephant seals in their natural habitat. There is a colony in this part of California that we will be privileged to observe.
In the afternoon, we will drive to Sequoia National Park to continue our incredible road trip.
Day 5 – Sequoia National Parksee
We invite you to take a fabulous tour of the Sequoia National Forest. It is a place full of giant trees that impress everyone! The largest tree in the world grows here, named General Sherman. The Sequoia National Forest is a must-see for nature lovers. We will walk, rest, see the giant trees and photograph incredible landscapes.
Day 6 – Las Vegassee
In the morning, we leave heading for the state of Nevada, for the city of Las Vegas. “What happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas!”
Las Vegas is not a city like the others. Located in the middle of the desert, it has the title of World Entertainment Capital, because fun is what is not lacking over there. It is a day for independent exploration of Las Vegas, its attractions and casinos.
Day 7 – Bryce Canyon National Parksee
After a well-deserved rest, we will leave Las Vegas and head for another state, the state of Utah, where we will go to Bryce Canyon! Despite the name "canyon", Bryce is not exactly a canyon but a huge natural amphitheatre formed by erosion. You will be able to see the Hoodoos, the rock formations that characterize Bryce Canyon National Park!
Day 8 – Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and Lake Powellsee
The day will be spent in another state, Arizona!
We will visit the Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell. The Horseshoe Bend is the name of an immense horseshoe-shaped curve run by the course of the Colorado River. An outstanding view that you have to see for yourself! Antelope Canyon is one of the parks of the Navajo Nation, an indigenous tribe in the American Southwest. The red tones of the stones, together with how the light enters through the upper openings at different times of the day, create fantastic designs inside this must-see canyon. In the afternoon we will also explore the wonderful Lake Powell.
Day 9 – Grand Canyon National Parksee
The Grand Canyon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Arizona and is one of the largest tourist attractions in the United States. A visit to the gorge is a fantastic experience. Nothing will prepare you for such a spectacular sight. We will hike through the Grand Canyon with an expert guide!
Day 10 – Grand Staircase Escalante National Monumentsee
Today we have an early morning start, hiking in the Grand Staircase Escalante. We will do a hike of about 2 hours to Toad Stools. After lunch we will explore the Navajo Indian Reservation. We will leave to Sedona in the afternoon, in time to watch the sunset from a beautiful spot.
Day 11 – Sedonasee
Today we will meet Mario Blackwolf. Mario is an Apachi Indian, medicine man and guide. He will show us around and tell us about the time Native people lived in the South West. We will go to ruins and see petroglyphs, carvings on the rocks made by these Native people. We will end this day with an Indian Native American ceremony.
Day 12 – Joshua Tree National Parksee
We travel from Sedona to Joshua Tree National Park. It is a beautiful National Park with trees like no other place in the world, the Joshua Trees. It is the place where Coachella festival takes place. We will do some walking around, soak and enjoy the park and if you want you can go to the famous Desert Hot Springs.
Day 13 – Los Angelessee
To end our trip, we arrive in the city of Los Angeles. It will be a free day to discover the corners of this city, Hollywood Boulevard or to soak up the sun on the California beaches such as Venice Beach or to get to know Santa Monica pier.
Day 14 – Return from Los Angelessee
Last day in California! This experience ends here, it is time to take in everything we have seen, felt and lived! Have a good journey and hope to see you soon!
