Organized since 2017, National Geographic Exodus Aveiro Fest returns to the City’s Congress Center for its third edition. The event, which focuses on Travel and Adventure Photography and Video, will take place on the weekend of 30 November and 1 December.
Although relatively recent, Exodus Aveiro Fest is being talked about in both Portugal and abroad. Curiosity and creativity will be the watchwords of an event that aims to share knowledge and open new dialogues among the more than 700 people who are usually present.
The Wanderlust will be present at this year’s edition as an official partner, a synergy that came naturally due to the links between the two entities. The passion for travel, environmental sustainability and, obviously, photography and video, are some of the values we share. We are biased, therefore. But we are involved in this project because we believe in its value and invite you to appear!
Here are 5 reasons why you should go to National Geographic Exodus Aveiro Fest 2019:
Internationally renowned speakers
Among activists, photojournalists and photographers with commercial work, what unites this year’s guests is the excellence of their work and the themes of travel and adventure. Speakers come from around the globe – Australia, the United States, the Netherlands, to name a few – and arrive in Aveiro ready to share their projects.
It is not easy to spot someone among so many award-winning photographers. However, it is essential to note that four of the guests will teach master classes on various photographic approaches and techniques. They are Corey Rich, Daniel Berehulak, Frans Lanting and Philip Lee Harvey. Each masterclass lasts for three hours.
The Wanderlust Lounge
In the first floor auditorium, you will find The Wanderlust Lounge, the ideal space for resting between lectures, sitting in a comfortable beanbag and reading one of the travel magazines we will have scattered around the room.
The lounge is where the Travel Talks by The Wanderlust will take place, a series of lectures curated by us. The five chosen speakers will share their stories and perspectives on travel as a transformative experience.
Travel Talks will take place on Saturday night from 22h to 23h45. On top of the stage will be Viagens 100 Nomes, the winners of our contest; the creators of Diaries Of who will present their photography and travel magazine; My Destiny founder and UN collaborator Carolina Pereira; Tânia Neves will talk about the documentary she developed in Mongolia; and finally Fabio Inácio will share the experience of walking the Pacific Crest Trail.
Being an event with the National Geographic label, photography will be celebrated with a strong presence in the various spaces of the Congress Center.
In addition to exhibitions of the speakers work, associated brands will also have the opportunity to display works related to the theme of the festival. In this sense, The Wanderlust will take advantage of its space to inaugurate a photo exhibition of our tour leaders.
In early morning corridors, conference breaks or late-night sessions, Exodus allows you to meet professionals and others interested in photography, nature and adventure. Cool people. Will you miss this opportunity?
The city of Aveiro
We couldn’t talk about Exodus Fest without highlighting where it will take place, the birthplace of The Wanderlust: Aveiro.
The event will take place at Cais da Fonte Nova, overlooking the famous canals and very close to the city centre. Explore the quirky streets, savour the region’s sweet treats, admire the Art Noveau buildings and traditional markets. If the weather helps, you can even visit the beach area.
Aveiro is the perfect city to visit on the weekend, enjoy!
The National Geographic Exodus Aveiro Fest begins on the 30th of this month.
