It’s the beginning of a new year, and indeed, all of us are mourning over what we did not fulfil the previous year. Now we have the opportunity for a fresh start, particularly about resolutions. It is time to look back and reflect on what went less well and what we want to continue or change.
We are now beginning a new 365 pages book, and we must ensure that we write something memorable that we will remember for the rest of our lives. If you suffer from wanderlust, indeed travelling is part of your plans so, to pick up a pen, use the first page to the following travel resolutions and commit to fulfilling them.
I will travel more responsibly and sustainably
It’s never too late to start to reconcile a great holiday with acts that protect and respect the communities, culture, traditions and environment that you visit. Travelling can be and is an excellent weapon to change the world positively and how the ordinary traveller is seen. On your next vacation look for an agency that involves in its adventures eco-social projects and that follow sustainable policies. Engage with the travel destinations, ensuring that these are maintained or improved now and in the future. You will bring a lot with you, but will leave even further behind!
I will travel to a place I’ve never been before
Dalai Lama says that at least once a year we should visit a place we’ve never been before. We could not agree more! It can be a new city, a new country or even a continent, add some new features to your bucket list and commit yourself to know them.
I will tick one sight of my bucket list
It’s time to start ticking some of those trips. If you have no opportunity to embark on a journey of several months to fulfil some of your desires, at least one destination you must tick. Once you decide to go, the hardest part is done!
I will get up to watch the sunrise at least once
Yeah, we know that sometimes it hurts to get out of the bed in the dark, but believe that the reward is well worth the effort. Some of the most incredible and unforgettable travel experiences, happen as the dawn breaks.
I will do a trip out of my comfort zone
How about challenge yourself once in a while? The odd relaxing beach holiday is all well and good, but will it be the most rewarding of all? Take your backpack, travel as you’ve never travelled before, experience what you’ve never experienced before and find out what the world has to give. There is always something extraordinary to see and experience and remember life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
I will change my perspective on a particular country
To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries. Most of the time we create preconceptions about particular locations, countries or people based on what we’ve heard. In a time that the unfounded assumptions are increasing, our advice is to go there and take your conclusions. Usually what we see is never what we hear, and the stories that we bring, based on our personal experiences are enriching.
I will spend more time outdoors
It is more than proven that our brain appreciates the contact with nature, making us healthier, happier, and smarter. This year look for trips that reward the outdoor activities. You will be fascinated by what nature has to offer and positively motivated to return to daily life.
I will do a friend a Wanderluster
An easy one to accomplish, and it should be on the travel list of resolutions. You don’t need to start on a big trip. It can be a ride for your home country or even on your continent. Share your joy of travel with your friends and invite them to venture out, to explore, to discover, in the end…to live! Perhaps you start having company for your adventures.
