Located on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia, Thailand is part of the imagination of all travellers seeking adventure and diversity.
Here, thanks to its unique geography, we can appreciate some of the most beautiful beaches, mountains and tropical forests on the planet, while at the same time immersing in a diverse culture and rich customs.
Although being a massive tourist attraction, Thailand stills preserve a historical and religious heritage that is not overlooked in the eyes of those who go there, thus maintaining its customs allied to the country’s strong economic growth.
Known as the land of smiles, it is warm the sympathy with which Thai people receive who visits, leaving a massive mark of longing in our hearts.
Welcome to Thailand, the land of smiles!
Today you may feel a bit exhausted from the trip; therefore the first day of our adventure is free so that you can rest and explore a bit of the city of Chiang Mai.
At night, we get together for dinner, to know each other a little better and uncover the journey ahead.
We start the day with a visit to the Doi Suthep Temple facing its 306 steps to the top. Thai people believe that everyone should visit this temple at least once in their lifetime and that a visit to the city of Chiang Mai will never be complete without a glimpse of it in the mountains.
In the afternoon, we immerse ourselves in Thai cuisine, by learning to cook typical Thai culture dishes. We start by visiting a local market where our guide will teach us to choose the best ingredients and then head to an organic farm in search of the missing ones. We are then prepared to start preparing what will be our dinner.
Today our adventure starts early and will be dedicated to the fantastic forests and mountains that are part of the Thai landscape.
By a private van, we go to the border with its neighbouring country, Myanmar and, from there, we begin 6-hour trekking to a traditional village of the Karen community, where we have the opportunity to know their customs and way of life. Our night will be spent here.
Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner
After a tasty breakfast, we will head down the mountains for a 3-hour trek until we reach our destination, an incredible waterfall in the middle of the forest. Here we take the opportunity to refresh ourselves and relax from the hike, returning to the city of Chiang Mai, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.
The night is free to rest in our accommodation or tread the streets of the city.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
We dedicate our last day in Chiang Mai to an exceptional project, the Save Elephant Foundation, a Thai nonprofit organisation dedicated to providing healthcare and assistance to Asian elephants.
In the morning we set off for the Elephant Nature Park where we spent our day. Here we will learn about their natural behaviour, prepare their food, observe and accompany these beauties of the animal world without disturbing their peace.
At the end of the day awaiting us a night train journey that will take us to our next destination – Bangkok.
Welcome to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok!
It’s time to know the city as well as its culture and the Buddhist religion.
We start the morning exploring the Royal Palace, a complex with an area of over 214,000 square meters.
In the afternoon, after a delightful lunch with some of the delicacies that Thai cuisine has to offer, we visit Wat Pho, home to the tremendous Reclining Buddha and the fabulous Temple of Dawn, Wat Arun.
After a full day of culture what about a Thai massage before dinner?
In the morning we take the train to the old capital of Thailand, about 80km from Bangkok.
Ayutthaya is our destination today, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will wander by bike, among the temples that were once partially destroyed, a devastated city in the country’s history.
In the afternoon, we return to Bangkok where we enjoy our last hours in the city, strolling along the famous Khao San Road known for its delicious street food, all sorts of shirts and the most bizarre souvenirs. How about a “mango sticky rice” before we head to our next destination?
At night, we head towards the beautiful blue water beaches of Thailand on a night bus; our destination will be the Krabi province.
We are halfway through the trip, so today is free!
Already in Krabi, we go to the region of Ao Nang. The area, marked by the beauty of its rock formations along the coast, as well as its magnificent beach, are the ideal place to relax while drinking fresh coconut water.
It is in Krabi that you will find the most fantastic Thai islands and today we’ll spend the day exploring them.
In the morning we will head to the port of Krabi where a longtail boat awaits, taking us to know the natural beauty that is part of the Thai postcard. We will watch the beauty of the marine life while snorkelling and diving into the blue waters of the Andaman coast.
In the late afternoon, we are contemplated with a spectacular sunset in the high seas, before return to the land and enjoy a free night.
We start the day early and forget because we’re not heading the beach. Here are the incredible Blue Lagoon and Emerald Pool, two lagoons in the middle of the forest a few kilometres from Krabi.
After cooling off in their waters, we set out for Hot Springs, a natural source of water that reach temperatures between 35 and 42 degrees. Relax time!
We say goodbye to the Thai beaches that we will miss so much, by knowing the famous Railay Beach, a peninsula surrounded by mountains where the beaches are breathtaking!
Today we go to the Khao Sok National Park, divided into two zones, the Khlong Sok village, where we will spend the night, and Lake Cheow Lan where great adventures await us!
By now we explore only Khlong Sok, a picturesque village in the province of Surat Thani, before heading to the lake tomorrow morning.
We will continue our journey in Lake Cheow Lan, being transported to the floating bungalows where we will spend tonight.
Quickly, and in canoes, we paddle along the waters of the lake as we watch the cliffs that rise in front of us!
At lunch, we will taste the delicacies of the region, and we will go to the safari through the forest of Khao Sok, where we have the opportunity to know its fauna and flora and watch a sunset that surely will not leave our memory!
Accommodation: bungalow (shared bathroom)
Meals: lunch and dinner
We start our adventure early watching the natural spectacle that is the sunrise in Khao Sok. The orange tones paint the mountains that are coming out of the water providing an unspeakable sensation!
After a good breakfast, we begin a small trekking that will take us to the massive cave of Nam Taloo. This cave is known to be one of the richest in Thailand, where you can see bats, spiders and even fish… yes, because we will walk in the water also though it is inside.
At the end of the afternoon, we will return to the village of Khlong Sok, preparing to leave for Bangkok on a night bus trip.
Meals: breakfast and lunch
Bangkok waits for us to say goodbye to this magnificent country!
The afternoon is free for the activities that everyone wants to do. Buy your souvenirs and say goodbye to the delicious street food.
At dinner, we meet for a fabulous and already nostalgic dinner in the iconic Chinatown followed by a drink at the famous Sky Bar Sirocco from the movie “The Hangover” where we can enjoy an incredible view over the city and say goodbye to this country who received us so well!
Our adventure has come to an end; it was a pleasure to meet you and fulfil your backpack with unforgettable experiences.
Depending on your flight time, you will be transported to the airport.
